TO FORUM MODS: This thread is about a Suggestion for a Future Update. I don't know which forum that belongs in, but if you want to move it go ahead but please do not lock it.

INTRO:

At runefest, one of the Jagex Mods talked about a few skill reworks in 2014: Smithing, Mining, Construction, Summoning and AGILITY. This thread will focus on agility.

There were rumours of an Agilityspan. What is Agilityspan? We don't know. But we suspect it will make agility a lot easier in 2 ways.

1. Buff the experience rates
2. Remove a lot of clicking

I'm not against #1. I will be very upset if #2 happens. Remember when people used to craft runes for runecrafting experience before runespan? I'm hoping agility courses will not suffer the same fate as runecrafting altars.

Agility has so much potential! Jagex wants our feedback so this thread is for discussing ideas.

1. BETTER TRAINING METHODS

Running laps around agility courses can get boring at times. Nearly every skill has multiple ways to train it. Agility needs this. Some of my ideas

1.1 MULTIPLE PATH COURSES

What if you have to get to the end of a course with different paths? Some of them can be blocked. Some of them might have monsters. Some of them can have chests like the old maze random. It makes things more interesting

1.2 LONGER COURSES

Longer courses reduce repetition. If a course takes 3 times as long but gives 3 times the experience, to achieve any level will take the same amount of time, but take 1/3 as many laps

1.3 TEAM BASED AGILITY

You need a team of 2 people to complete a course. You need a friend to hold a rope while you climb it. You need a friend to lift you on top of a ledge. You need a friend to help squeeze you through a pipe. Okay, these are not my best ideas, but team agility will makes training more fun!

1.4 COMBINED AGILITY WITH OTHER SKILLS

You have to light a rope on fire to drop a bridge. You have to used ranged to grapple over a pit. You have to use thieving to sneak past a monster. You find some broken pieces to repair a pipe or a swing.

1.5 QUEST LIKE COURSES (WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS)

Do you remember rat catchers? Or Death to the Dorgeshun? Or My Arm's Big Adventure? Each of those quests you have to sneak through an area and avoid being caught by guards of some type. What if you add some agility obstacles to this and make these mazes repeatable? I loved those quest courses and would like to play them again.

2. BETTER REWARDS

We don't have good rewards now. We have a few shortcuts that save a few minutes here and there. I haven't run out of run energy since the days of runecrafting. At 88 agility I almost never run out of run energy. I would like to hear from some players with lower agility levels. Do you run out run energy? How many trips can you make form Taverley Bank to the summoning obelisk before you need to rest?

What rewards do we have now?

2.1.1 A few shortcuts here and there
2.1.2 You can catch multiple fish
2.1.3 You can barehand butterflies
2.1.4 You can pickpocket multiple times
2.1.5 Your run energy drains slower and recovers quicker

Not bad, but not great either. We need to expand on those ideas

2.2.1 REWARDS AT THE END OF COURSES

The agility pyramid is a good example. It's a longer course so less repetition. And at the top there is a reward....of a 1000 coin idol. It's very good for players with between 35 and 50 agility. We need rewards at the end of courses or even in the middle of courses. Imagine a chest in the middle of a course! It would also be cool to add rewards unique to agility. Boss monsters have unique drops such as godswords and drygore weapons. It would be cool if other skills had the same. That goes for agility included

2.2.2 AREAS YOU CAN ONLY ACCESS WITH AGILITY LEVELS

The title is pretty self explanatory. I'm not talking about a shortcut that saves you 2 minutes. I'm talking about a city, resource area or dungeon you can ONLY access if you have a certain agility level

2.2.3 MAKE RUN ENERGY MATTER MORE

I know this one won't happen since Jagex is thinking about getting rid of run energy entirely. But my agile legs, boots of lightness and penance gloves are asking for a shoutout on this thread and weight reducing clothing deserves to be in this thread. Also, lower levels should run out of energy more often like in Old School. But the rest feature is nice.
